The holiday season is supposed to be about family and friends and joy to the world, right? But when Christmas comes around, what if you don’t feel especially jolly?

Maybe you’re missing someone, and you feel their absence especially hard at Christmas. Maybe you’ve lost a job, or a friend, or a loved one. Or maybe you just need a place where you don’t have to pretend to be happy all the time. Maybe you just need a break from the frenetic rush.

First Presbyterian Church of Benton Harbor and Fairplain Presbyterian Church are co-hosting a time for that at Fairplain this year, and we would love to have you join us on Monday, December 17, at 6: 30 pm.  Even if you are part of another church, or don’t attend church at all, you are welcome, and no one will try to pressure you into worshiping with us at any other time. Promise.

Fairplain Presbyterian Church is located at 210 W. Napier Avenue, Benton Harbor.

CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICE WILL BE AT 4 PM!

Clap your hands, all you peoples; shout to God with loud songs of joy.  For the LORD, the Most High, is awesome, a great king over all the earth. Psalm 1

Worship is the heart of Fairplain, the foundation from which we do God’s work here. We worship together in joy, grief, gratitude, penitence, awe and mystery according to the seasons and our life as a congregation.

Our worship follows Presbyterian Reformed guidelines, focusing on word and sacrament, but mostly it reveals our hearts. We come to God as a diverse community, all seeking to renew the Spirit in our lives each Sabbath. We welcome our children as full participants in worship, nurturing them in the scriptures, prayer and music as they grow in the faith.

Music from gospel to Handel calls our minds and hearts to God.  Our chancel choir, praise team, bell choirs and soloists all lead us at various times.  Worship planning is a shared responsibility of the Worship Committee including our pastor, music director and members, so we can reflect all aspects of congregational needs and touch people in different ways.

We usually celebrate the Lord’s Supper the first Sunday of each month and at special worship services through the year.  All who believe in Jesus Christ as Lord are welcome to share the table with us.
