Chairperson, Leslie Gilreath

Leslie is a lifelong Presbyterian. She joined Fairplain in 1969
when she, her husband and young son moved here from            St. Paul, MN, where she graduated from Macalester College.  This is her second PNC. She is a ruling elder and former clerk, sings in choir, works in Food Pantry, Soup Kitchen and Community Dinners and  was a member of Lake Michigan Presbytery leadership team. She has completed the requirements for CRE and fills the pulpit at Fairplain and other churches when needed. Leslie is retired from a career in marketing and public relations. She enjoys reading and writing, her three grown children, eight grandchildren and her two black cats.

Secretary, Robert Smith

Robert L. Smith is an adult educator who has worked primarily with steelworkers in northwest Indiana, for the past 20 years. Here at FPC, he has served as clerk and on committees related to mission work and worship/music. Musical ministry appeals to him the most, so he sings in the choir and plays guitar in the praise team.  Robert also likes to write and assist others who write: he works part-time for a nonprofit to help publish three international journals. He has landed several grant awards for Fairplain Presbyterian and would like to continue these efforts. Robert exchanged wedding vows with Marlene Smith (current clerk of session) in this church in 1994.

Member, Jenna McAllister

Jenna is a retired Elementary School Teacher with a strong background in early literacy. She has been a member of Fairplain Presbyterian Church for 25 years. During that time she has served as Sunday School Teacher, Church Librarian, Gardener, and Elder. Currently, she is the Church Treasurer. Jenna has two grown daughters and enjoys traveling to visit them. She works part-time as a Technical Editor for an international nonprofit organization.

Member, John Kauffman

A member of FPC since 1982, John has served both as an Elder and a Deacon. John is retired, having spent 34 years with American Electric Power Company. Most of that time was spent in power plant construction, after participating in a cooperative engineering program while attending Virginia Tech. John lost his wife, Judy, eleven years ago, celebrating 47 years of marriage. They have three grown children, a daughter and two sons. John presently volunteers as Coordinator of the various activities associated with FPC’s Community Food Bank. He also shares his talents in other projects within the church as needed. John’s hobbies include woodworking, electrical tinkering, and looking for food bargains for the food pantry. A lifelong Presbyterian, John grew up outside of Charleston, WV on the banks of the Kanawha River and a stone’s throw from the WV Turnpike.

Member, Chris Corbitt

A member of FPC since 1990, Chris is retired having spent 42 years in the Graphic Arts Industry. Chris serves as the Church’s Financial Secretary. He also participates in the Church Choir, Praise Band, helps with the sound system, and streaming of the church service.  Chris and his wife were married at FPC and have been married for 26 years and have one grown son (step-son). They volunteer together at the church packing food bags.   Chris’ hobbies include photography, music, and computer work. Talents he shares with his church. Chris has been a life long Presbyterian, having grown up in a small town, population of 300 including cats and dogs, along the Ohio River in West Virginia.
